FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY

In 30 years’ time the photos you have taken now will be precious beyond measure.

We looked for a very long time for a photographer that could capture light and a natural style, we absolutely found this in Victoria! We are always thrilled with the result and our walls are adorned with her work. Victoria captures the moment effortlessly, I cannot recommend her enough.”

Why should you invest in family photography?

I’ve been capturing the bonds between families for two decades, and it never fails to bring me joy.

I promise that in years to come you’ll only regret not investing in family photography. Kids get big in the blink of an eye, so make sure you are documenting them growing.

Don’t let the time pass by without capturing the moments that matter: when I photograph your family I freeze those moments in time. Beautiful family photography is an investment in memories that will last your lifetime.

She has a beautiful sense of light and composition, and is amazing at capturing those beautiful in between moments without intruding on the intimacy of the occasion. Highly recommend her.

More than just photos

As time goes by and you look at the photos you will remember the smell of your baby's head, the sound of your wee toddler giggling, how excited you all were when you were expecting your new baby, or how you could just stare into your baby's eyes all day long and how cheeky your kids were.

Why am I passionate about family photography?

Capturing connection is the thing that drives my photographic passion. I love documenting the relationships between parent and child, whether the child is 4 or 40! As a parent, and as a daughter who has lost a parent, I understand the importance of capturing your family's memories and relationships. The memories that are captured today will be cherished by you for years to come.

Victoria is magic at making both adults and kids relax - awkwardness goes out the window and in come genuine smiles and laughs making natural beautiful shots. The photos are gorgeous and memory of the shoot too - we had so much fun. We’ve tried a few places to get our treasured family photos taken and these were by far the best. Highly recommended and thank you Victoria!

Here's how your family photoshoot experience happens:

1: Our meeting

The key to getting great photos is feeling comfortable with your photographer, so before our photoshoot we have a consultation meeting. During the consultation, we will get together to discuss your preferences and make sure your session is everything you want it to be. We can either do this in person at my studio, or over Zoom for your convenience.

We’ll chat about why family photography is important to you, how you want to feel when you look at the photos, and what you’d like to get from the experience. It also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have, making sure you’ll be at your most comfortable during the session.

2: Your Family Photoshoot

Your photoshoot can happen in my Nelson photography studio or at a local location of your choosing. The best place to be photographed is where your family is most comfortable, where you can have an adventure together, I’ll tag along for the ride. Be that in a park, your home or the beach, just as long as the light is delicious.

In my experience the best time for family photos is either when the sun is coming up or when the sun is going down in the gorgeous golden light with beautiful shadows. First thing in the morning is the best time for little kids, let’s get them when they and the light are at their best.

We’ll spend around 45 minutes having fun while I capture your connections. During that time I’ll use all the tricks I’ve learned over my years as a photographer to capture snapshots that reflect your and your whanau.

3: Photo Viewing

Your viewing is the final step in your experience with me - and it’s my favourite part. Once I’ve edited your photos (around two weeks later) we meet in the studio to decide which ones you love and can’t live without!

Honestly, this is the best part of my job! I love watching you see the photos for the first time, and I always make sure I’ve got tissues on hand because there are usually a few tears.

The experience was amazing! Victoria was so calm and patient when my children didn't want to cooperate and she managed to capture some beautiful photos. Victoria is so lovely and made me feel comfortable…her skills are amazing and the photos she captures are beautiful.”

Being photographed by Vic was one of the highlights of my pregnancy. I was blown away by her ability to capture that strength and feminity in a still image. The pictures I have of my bump and I will be precious keepsakes for the both of us for the rest of our lives. I can’t recommend Victoria enough.”
